Don’t Squeeze the Dress!

A wedding gown even Mr. Whipple would approve of

It’s one thing for a dress to be aisle-worthy, it’s another to be squeezably soft.

The latest toilet-paper couture fashions were on display last week when Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com announced the winner of its fourth annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress contest.

A tiered, mermaid-style gown constructed by Katrina Chalifoux of Rockford, Ill., won first prize – a $1,000 American Express gift card – at this year’s contest. Chalifoux’s dress, along with those from two other finalists, will be displayed worldwide in Ripley’s Believe or Not museums.

The contest required gowns be constructed strictly using Charmin bath tissue, glue and/or tape and no “normal” wedding-dress embellishments, such as sequins or beads.

“The level of talent that presents itself each year always amazes us,” said Laura Gawne, one of the partners at Cheap Chic Weddings.
